South Africa has a complex history of race-based dispossession which is being undone through our three-pronged approach to land reform, but it is slow, complex and contingent. GeoDesign understands the necessity for land tenure security and for land reform in rural, peri-urban and urban areas where land rights are still informal, negotiated and, in many places, still at risk.
Our aim is to contribute to meaningful land tenure reform through research and real world intervention using global best practices to secure land rights. This includes land tenure assessments and land rights mapping, and implementation of fit-for-purpose land administration.
